“From the time she was told she had cancer, she lost a piece of herself every day. She was strong, tough, caring, loving, and most importantly, the best mom anyone can hope for,” she wrote.

The essay begins with Ryan being proud of her mom for attending her high school graduation despite her illness and not being able to leave the house.

Ryan talked about going on a fun trip to the beach with her friends. But when she tried to video call her mom, her mom didn’t answer. Ryan wasn’t too worried and kept having fun.

When she got home, her mom was in a much worse condition. The tumors had grown a lot, her spine was very damaged, and she couldn’t get out of bed. Her mom went into hospice care, which is a special kind of care for very sick people, and sadly, she never got better.
