When will Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 9 be released?

Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 9 is scheduled to air in November 2023.

Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 9 will mark the beginning of the final episodes of Yellowstone, as Season 5 will be the last season of the show. This news was recently confirmed after several months of rumours and reports about possible conflicts between showrunner Taylor Sheridan and Kevin Costner, who has been working on his Warner Bros. project called Horizon.

Chris McCarthy, the president and CEO of Showtime and MTV Entertainment Studios, expressed that Yellowstone has been the foundation for the success of many popular shows, such as 1883 and Tulsa King. He believes that the upcoming sequel will also be a major success, attributing it to the exceptional creative talent of Taylor Sheridan and the remarkable casts who bring these shows to life.

David Glasser, the CEO of 101 Studios, also commented that the story of the Dutton family would carry on, starting from where Yellowstone concludes and embarking on another grand adventure. He expressed his excitement about bringing this new journey to viewers all across the globe.

According to reports, the cast and crew of Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 have yet to be informed about when production will begin. Even Wes Bentley, in an interview with Gold Derby, mentioned that he doesn’t have any information to share because he himself is unaware.

He added that even if he did have any details, he might choose not to disclose them. He finds it enjoyable to see the audience’s reaction, especially since it all stems from the unexpected nature of the show.

During Deadline’s Contenders Television panel on April 16, 2023, director and executive producer Stephen Kay provided a ray of hope by sharing that there is a positive outlook for the future.

“He said that Taylor Sheridan is currently working hard in Texas, turning ordinary things into something extraordinary, and they are hopeful that they will be able to achieve their goals soon. Everyone involved is very enthusiastic and eager for what’s to come.”

The creator of Yellowstone, Tyler Sheridan, suggests that the second part of Season 5 could be longer than what was initially stated. However, he cannot provide a specific air date for the extended episodes.

After being on the air for only five years, with four and a half seasons, Yellowstone is coming to an end. The contemporary western series has been extremely successful on Paramount+, with its audience growing with each new season. In fact, it has become one of the most popular and highly praised shows on television.

Yellowstone centres around the Dutton family, a group of ranchers, and Kevin Costner portrays the role of the family’s leader, John Dutton III. However, in recent times, Costner has been focusing on a series of Western movies he has worked on. As a result, he has decided to depart from the show.

Due to Kevin Costner leaving the show early, Yellowstone is ending sooner than expected, with Season 5 being the final season. We are halfway through the season, and the second half was initially planned to consist of six episodes. However, Taylor Sheridan has recently suggested that there might be a change in the episode count for the second half.

Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 9 could be longer than initially planned

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter regarding the series finale, Taylor Sheridan mentioned that the exact number of episodes still needs to be fixed. He explained that if he believes it will take 10 episodes to conclude the story, they will provide him with 10 episodes. The season will be as long as necessary to wrap up the narrative properly.

As for the possible airing dates of those episodes, Paramount+ initially stated that the series would conclude in November. However, it seems more and more improbable as time goes on.

Due to the complications with Costner, the producers have been unable to set a schedule for filming the actor’s final scenes. However, in the same interview, Taylor Sheridan clarifies that the long negotiations will not affect the ultimate fate of John Dutton’s character.

Due to the ongoing writer’s strike, the scripts for the show cannot be worked on at the moment. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Taylor Sheridan is currently not actively working on the scripts, indicating a pause in the writing process.

So, regarding the return of Yellowstone, we will have to wait and see for further updates. However, once the show concludes, there will be numerous spinoffs to look forward to. These include Lawmen: Bass Reeves, 6666, and Land Man, all of which are currently in development. Also, a series is being considered that might feature Matthew McConaughey, who Taylor Sheridan believes would be a perfect fit for the Yellowstone universe.
