When thinking of the Gold Coast, surfing, the nightlife, Movieworld and the many mouth-watering restaurants scattered throughout the coast come to mind. But the Gold Coast has a secret and it is the beautiful and peaceful Mount Tamborine.

45 minutes from Surfers Paradise, lies the picturesque Mount Tamborine. The steep winding drive up the mountain it is not before to long you are in Nature’s Paradise with breathtaking views on either side, including the stunning view of the Gold Coast at its finest.

Plenty waits on the mountain top and not just the luscious rainforest, creeks and waterfalls, attractions are plentiful. Many wineries are located in the mountain for any wine lover to enjoy the taste of different wines, The Cedar Creek vineyard and Winery is especially a stunner, its 22 acre vineyard has Cedar Creek flowing by and is a hotspot for weddings.

For the shopping enthusiasts there are lots of ways to spend your cash. Shop till you drop at the markets located in North Tamborine and Eagle Heights. Visit the antique stores or the Art Gallery, taste the delicious locally made fudge at Fudge Heaven or Relax with a day spa or massage at the Ripple Massage and Beauty

Looking for lunch? Mount Tamborine has it covered. The St Bernard Hotel has wonderful meals at a good price and the view of Guanaba Gorge is simply sensational. Other places to enjoy a good meal include The Heritage, Granny Mac’s and The Secret Garden Veranda cafe.

Be at Peace with the Rainforest, Creeks and Waterfalls

Mount Tamborine itself is surrounded by nine national parks. Beautiful belts of Piccabean Palms and tall trees give the rainforest a lovely touch of tropical paradise. Add the many creeks and waterfalls which clings to the rainforest and it gives the Mountain its magic touch.

Many walking tracks make up Mount Tamborine to explore inside the rainforests and discover the wildlife. Most walking tracks are family friendly which take approximately 30 minutes to two hours per walk. To find the walk ways stop by at the information centre upon entering Mount Tamborine.

Be sure to follow the tracks that lead to the visibly stunning and peaceful waterfalls including the Cedar Creek Falls walkway, Curtis Falls track in the Joalah section, Witches Falls Circuit and the amazing Sandy creek circuit which overlooks Cameron Falls.

Walk Tall Above the Rainforest at Skywalk

A walk with a difference. Discover the rainforest from a different angle, high up above with the treetops. Beginning the walk at the Rainforest Eco Gallery, take the 300 metre walkway and admire the view from above, listening to the birds, the wildlife and the sounds of the creek below.

Following the 300 metre walkway, take another hike into the rainforest, a one kilometre walk that leads to the creek, before reaching the amazing 40 metre long Cantilever the longest in the south east Queensland. The Cantilever soars 30 metres above the valley, creating yet another sensation view.

Be Inspired at the Botanical Gardens

A secret within the secret is the beautiful Botanical Gardens, hidden in the Eagles Nest area of Mount Tamborine. The beautifully designed gardens are full of life and adventure. There are plenty different gardens, each truly amazing. The rose garden, magnolia garden and the perennial garden are just a few of the luscious gardens to admire.

Another feature of the Botanic gardens is garden walks. Follow the colourful cherry blossom walk, the viburnum walk and yet another small rainforest walkway. Enjoy the gardens, the walk and admire the Kookaburras up close.

There is simply so much to do and one day up the mountain is sometimes not long enough, with most things to enjoy at the mountain being free of charge, it is easy to check into a motel, chalet or cabin and stay another night or two at Mount Tamborine. The secret has been revealed.
