Before their August game against the Denver Broncos, the Buffalo Bills held a moment of silence to remember Luke Knox, who was the brother of Dawson Knox, one of their players.

Luke Knox was a college football player, and he passed away when he was 22 years old. Florida International University reported that he was found unconscious in his dorm room by his friends on August 17.

The exact reason for his death was not known, and the police did not find any evidence of foul play. There were no other details shared about how he passed away.

At that time, FIU Coach Mike MacIntyre paid his respects to Luke Knox:

“Words cannot explain the sincere sorrow we feel due to the passing of our teammate and friend, Luke Knox. I had the chance to coach Luke at FIU and Ole Miss. Even though I respected his love for the sport, I’ll always remember his genuine affection for his family and teammates.”

The coach of the Bills, Sean McDermott, said this to the reporters:

“Our thoughts go out to Dawson and his family during this time. He has our utmost support, and we’re right there with him and his family. I simply received terrible news this morning. We support him and adore him.”

Luke and Dawson were very close, and Luke often shared pictures and posts about Dawson on his Instagram.

When Dawson got picked in the 2019 draft, Luke wrote on Instagram:

“So dang proud of you, bro. Get what’s yours now! I love you.”

Initially, Luke started his football career as a linebacker and tight end at Ole Miss, but later, he transferred to FIU with the goal of playing as a linebacker. Before the Bills chose Dawson as a tight end in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, both brothers played together at Ole Miss for two years.

Luke joined the Rebels as a recruit in 2018. In 2021, he was able to make 11 tackles, defend two passes, and recover a fumble during the season.

As reported by People Magazine, Luke lived with his 3 younger siblings – LJ, Nate, and Isaiah. He also had an older brother named Dawson, who plays for the Buffalo Bills. LJ, his younger sister, is a soccer player at Auburn University.

Dawson Knox honoured his brother Luke during the game against the Chiefs

After scoring a touchdown in the Bills’ 24-20 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, Dawson Knox seemed to be showing his love for his late brother. Dawson caught the winning touchdown near the end of the game and celebrated by pointing upwards.

The Bills won a low-scoring game, which helped them get back at the Chiefs after losing to them in the AFC Championship last season.
